You have to change fixing method according
to sample size, material or temp. etc.
According to our experience, we recommend
following methods.
Generally to say, rate of coefficient of
heat conductivity is
metal: 1000
alumina ceramics: 100
plastic: 1
The faster heat flow to thermocouple, the
better. Because we can get high response.
Then, we should use metal (high heat conductivity)
as bond as far as possible.
(1) In case of Metal
| (a) |
If sample is wettable by solder, you can solder. But there is no complete
flux for K type thermocouple, then please use our solder coated thermocouple(+300Yen).
When you use solder coated thermocouple, solder with minimum amount of
our high melt solder cored wire(1000Yen). To use minimum amount of solder
is very important to achieve fast response. (Small heat capacity is preferable).
If you use high melt solder (Pb rich solder,
Melt.point is 290 degree C), solder joint
is not melt even at soldering temp( 230degree
C in Reflow, 250degree C in wave). Pb is
restricted by RoHS, but high melt solder
is not restricted because there is no alternate
solder.
We are selling high melt cored wire solder (Pb90%, Sn8%, Ag2%, 1.2mm dia.
Melt point:295degree C. Price 1000 yen without freight fee). |
| (b) |
If sample is not wetted by solder, you had
better to use high heat conductivity
Ag paste.
You have to cure at about 200degree C, and
Ag paste become solid. |
| (c) |
If sample temp. is higher than 300degree
C, ceramics adhesive is recommendable. Capton(polyimide)
tape is endure at 260degree C, and even 370degree
C for a moment.
It may be also good way that you fix Sheet
type thermocouple using small metal coupon(like
copper) and screw. But in this case, you
may have to choose polyimide insulated bare
wire type, or your temp. data is not tip
point.
If it is possible to drill (like 1 mm dia.
and 3mm depth), you can insert thermocouple
and fix by ceramics adhesive. In this case,
thermocouple is heated from every side, then
you can choose Multi purpose thermocouple.
We are selling ceramic adhesive 30g, 800
yen (without freight fee) |
| (d) |
If metal is heated from inside, and if you
want to eliminate atmosphere interference,
you had better to use capton tape. This is
very simple way. You had better choose Sheet
type thermocouple with one side black body,
black body can absorb radiation energy also,
lead to higher response. |
(2) In case of Non-Metal
There are 2 ways. One is Ag paste, another
is capton tape.
If sample is heated from inside, you had
better to choose capton tape and you should
choose Sheet type thermocouple. But, capton(70micron)
heat conductivity is 0.1 % of metal, capton
may eliminate atmosphere temp, then you had
better to use minimum capton tape.
We are selling capton tape 50cm 800yen (without
freight fee)
(3) Electrically conductive material
If bare wire (except tip port) thermocouple
touch to electrically conductive metal, you
are measuring not only tip port but also
bare wire port.
Then, you may had better to choose insulated
bare wire or with also insulated tip.
 |
Example:None insulated bare wire contact
to metal plate, then you are measuring red
port temp. |
